A book that utilizes many useful throwaway materials makes crafting not only inexpensive, but also environmentally friendly. There is a list of "useful throwaways" in the front that you can gather and set aside for when you want to craft. This list is especially helpful for teachers on a budget who would like their students to craft, but don't have enough money to supply and entire classroom. There is a list of basic equipment that has common items like pencils and scissors to things like a vegetable peeler. Naturally safety is stressed and those needing adult assistance are clearly labeled. Crafts are listed by season and there are some surefire winners in this book!

The instructions are clear, concise and easy to follow. This is a marvelous book that will provide hours and hours of fun and is well worth the asking price! Just read down the list and you'll be convinced.』
(Beautiful and Simple) 『Many crafting books for children are complicated - the parent ends up doing the project. Not so with Crafting Fun - each activity requires only a few items, yet produces something functional and beautiful.
And the book is lovely to look at! I often find myself flipping through the colorful pages, daydreaming about something to do next.
I think this book is best used with children ages six and up, although many of the activities could be adapted for younger children.』
(Oh, how I love this book. Thank you, Rae Grant.) 『While thumbing through this book for the first time, I breathed a great sigh of relief. Crafting Fun makes me feel warm, happy, and craft-competent, while many of my other craft books make me feel unprepared, incompetent, and often frustrated. Now that I have found this book, I have put away all of my craft books from the Waldorf tradition (The Children's Year: Seasonal Crafts and Clothes (Festivals (Hawthorn Press)), All Year Round (Lifeways), Crafts through the Year, etc.) Never again will I struggle to make a teeny tiny delicate tissue paper angel while my child looks on, uninvolved. Never again will I search for obscure items such as kite paper and split straws.
Crafting Fun is filled with simple, lovely, do-able craft projects, many of which I remember from my own childhood. Your children will be able to do the projects themselves, rather than stand back and watch you do them. Just this December, my 5-1/2-year-old and I have made popcorn and cranberry garlands, tinsel stars with pipe cleaners, construction paper garlands, a lovely ice picture with leaves and berries in a pie pan, and pinecone treats for birds. We didn't have to buy a thing, other than the cranberries; everything else we had on hand. There are many, many more winter projects to choose from, and we are looking forward to all of the wonderful ideas from other seasons, as well.
Some of the projects in this book may have you thinking, "I don't need a book for that!" And yet that is the beauty of this book: All of the great ideas you remember are here, in one nicely spiral-bound book, along with project ideas you may not quite remember, as well as many others. The projects are presented simply enough that you will be able to turn the book over to your children to read to themselves in a few years. I know my children will grow up having fond memories of warm moments shared doing projects from this book. I've given this book as a gift, to the great delight of the recipients. Highly recommended.』
(The Best Craft Book Ever!!!) 『My daughters, ages 8 and 6 could not put this book down. We loved the way it is organized by seasons and the fact you don't have to raid a crafts store to do many of the projects. One of our favorites had us all in the park gathering Autumn leaves and making waxed leaves at home. The book is also beautifully illustrated and designed so would make a great gift. I highly recommend this wonderful book.』
(Mother-Daughter Fun!) 『I love this book! The stress-free projects are fun to make and they don't have to be perfectly executed to look great. My daughter and I are working our way through the seasons--love the Spooky Cheesecloth Ghosts--and enjoying every minute. She's 12 now and those minutes of fun are precious indeed. Thank you for giving us another way to connect.』 『
In our hurried timesCrafting Funintroduces kids to classic childhood crafts that many of us remember fondly. The charming vintage art illustrating all the projects adds to the appeal and the hidden-spiral binding with a sturdy paper-over-board cover makes the book easy to use.
101 easy and entertaining projects are explained on one to two pages each. Make a pumpkin-seed necklace or crayoned waxed leaves for fall, decorate with paper-cut snowflakes during the winter or make a summer scrapbook of pressed flowers. The step-by-step directions and line drawings allow even the youngest crafter to follow along. The seasonal activities also include fun facts relating to the projects, like how to tell a ghost story, charts of state trees, and the names of the first Thanksgiving attendees.
HOURS OF ENTERTAINMENT---projects and activities are organized by season to provide year-round activities for children, parents, and teachers.
SIMPLE FUN PROJECTS---from creating glittery holiday decorations, to making tin can lanterns, kites that really fly, or spooky cheesecloth ghosts, the book is filled with projects with an old-fashioned slant.
RECYCLE BASIC HOUSEHOLD ITEMS---most of the projects use simple materials found in every home, such as aluminum foil, string, paper bags, egg cartons, and others.
FOR YOUNGER CHILDREN ALSO---many of the projects can be done by younger children with adult supervision.
For parents, grandparents or teachers, this lovely book will help create fond family memories and provide a plethora of fun projects and activities.
IPhone 3G used's review (maybe too cute) 『I can't figurte out who this book is supposed to be for, but my daughter (who loves cute things) is just not having it. Maybe it's not for 3 or 4 year old girls.』
(Super Aliki Book) 『We discovered this book at the library and were lucky enough to find a used copy to purchase. My two year old son loves this book and requests it frequently. It's our favorite Aliki book. Great illustrations and a good story about growing up in a growing family.』
(Tabby is a wonderful "learning to read" book.) 『We first became acquainted with Tabby when we checked out the book from the library. My daughter (three years old) wanted me to read it to her every day, at least two or three times a day. Soon, she was telling me the story herself, as she "read" the pictures. Tabby is an excellent learning book for pre-readers.』
(Cute!) 『this book is absolutely adorable :)the pictures are cute and the kittie looks so cuddly!』 『Tabby the kitten has a brand new home, a warm bed, good food to eat, and best of all, a little girl to play with. The pictures tell the story in this charming, full-color book, so even the youngest reader can be enchanted by Aliki's affectionate look at kitten's first year with her new family.』

Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (Great for sewers of all ages) 『My First Machine Sewing Book is an excelent book for all ages. Too many books take it for granted that the reader has prior knowledge of the subject. I bought this book for my eight year old grand daughter. However, I will have to buy her another copy as her grandfather found the book and patterns easy to understand and has been enjoying learning to sew. I recommend it's sister publication "My First Sewing Book." The two books take any beginning sewer step by step into the world of sewing. sincerely R. Wallach』
(Great kid sewing book) 『I bought this for my daughter ( 9 years old) and she was able to sew a couple of pillows in no time. It is a very basic beginner book. The only complain it does not have too many choice to do, but it is fine for a beginners.』
(First Machine Sewing Book) 『This was a great simple sewing book. Almost everything you need was contained in the kit. Product description was spot on.』
(Perfect Beginner Book for Any Age) 『If you don't even know how to thread the machine, this book might be a good starting point for you.
I am a 20-something just learning to sew. This book helped me get started in an easy and pleasant manner. With this book I did in 30 minutes what I couldn't do in three hours with my machine's manual; I learned to thread my machine, wind a bobbin, make straight stitches and turn corners. I also learned about trimming corners and turning points. The star pillow project was a great way to make sure I understood all the basics of machine sewing. After this book, I went on to Sew Fast, Sew Easy by Elissa Myerich to make some other beginner projects.
I will certainly save this book for my daughter when she is ready to learn to use the sewing machine.』
(Great Beginning Book) 『I have two beginner sewer's. One that is 12 and the other is 9. The oldest completed the project in a few hours and enjoyed every minute. The 9 year old had quite a bit of difficulty and did not complete the project. We will keep practicing. I ran off paper copies for them to practice their sewing. So don't use the original templates. You will need lots of trial pages. Even my husband gave it a go.Ü
I would recommend this to anyone with a child who wants to learn to sew.』 『
This book presents tips for children to how to sew, from simple stitches to making dolls and understanding the sewing machine.

The book includes a Sioux ghost dance dress, a Hopi dress with her hair done in large buns on each side, and many more. The dresses are lovely, and this is the perfect book for young children, as the material is very durable. They will need help cutting it out, though, because the paper is so thick. But this would be a perfect stocking stuffer, or a nice birthday present for a small girl. I'd say the age range would be from 3-8.』 『Charmingly rendered paper doll and 8 distinctive, carefully researched American Indian costumes. Traditional outfits for the Hopi, Zuni, Navajo, Pawnee, Sioux, Apache and Arapaho tribes and the Acoma pueblo. Also, full-color accessories and tribal artifacts (basketware, jewelry, blankets, toys and footwear). Ideal for classroom use and for collectors of all ages. 1 paper doll. 8 full-color costumes. 』

IPhone 3G used's review (just ok.....) 『I found this item to be just "OK",it did not hold mine or my daughters interest for very long&we did not think that the traced&completed projects looked very realistic in comparison to the klutz book "my style studio" which produces finished products that are much more realistic, even for people like myself for whom drawing is not a strong point. My personal advice is to go for the Klutz released book "my style studio" instead. My Style Studio: Design&Trace Your Own Fashions (Klutz)』
(Lights ..camera.. Fashion!) 『Reviewed by Sophia (age 6) and Madeline (age 7.5) McElroy for Reader Views (1/09)
Sophia: It is really fun! I like making the fashions. I liked drawing them and coloring in the outfits. My favorite dress to draw is the ball and red carpet fashions. I learned how to draw faces, shoes and skirts.
Madeline: I was surprised how good I could draw the fashion stuff. We made paper dolls out of the fashion studio using yarn for hair, fabric for clothes and pipe cleaners for leggings. The book is good because it shows you how to create different fashion outfits. The light box is easy to use and you are able to trace the different outfits and that makes it look cool. My friend likes to create fashions with us too! I learned to draw different clothes and styles. I also learned how to make different hair styles, eyes, noses and mouths. This is a great gift for anyone who likes to draw or wants to learn how to draw.
Parent: What an awesome kit! I would have loved to have had this as a young person. I enjoyed doing the drawings as much (maybe more at times!) as my two daughters. The age is set at age 7+ and is a good recommendation. My youngest was 5.5 when we got it and she had a bit of hard time with the tracing of the silhouettes and such. But, she kept working at it and was able to do some amazing fashion! "Fashion Studio: Lights Camera Fashion!" by Sara Easterly is a wonderful art tool for endless fun and creativity. Every time we come back to it, we create something new and exciting. I can see keeping this in our house until the children are grown; maybe I will keep it for myself!

(Great for girls interested in drawing and fashion design!) 『I bought this for my 9 yr old, she loves to draw girls and loves fashion. She's been creating outfits and different girls by changing their hairstyles and haircolor. I would recommend this for any girl, my younger daughters also love it.』
(Nice product for a pre-teen or teen interested in fashion) 『Ok, so the only thing holding back my rather reserved fashion-designer-hopeful teen is that she cannot draw well, but can dream up outfits and fashion until the cows come home. Enter this light-box and acetate design templates that can be TRACED, and we have a happy camper. This 12 year old has even set up a corner desk in her room - opposite her school desk - devoted to her fashion. So when school work is finished, she moves to her design desk and she can tack up photos ripped from fashion magazines and then design her own outfits. She hangs her favorite ones. Just a few colored pencils, extra paper for the lightbox and she is a the designing-teen. This was under our Christmas tree, and was a complete surprise to her. She's spent lots of happy hours focused on her designs. I too, think that focus, fine motor skills and just plain old imagination are all benefits of this product, when in the right hands. It's so nice to see my daughter use this and not tire of it. Mostly it pleases me because the TV is off and so is the computer! It's 2009 and a low-tech set of colored pencils and a battery operated light box is keeping her creative juices flowing! The AA batteries have not yet been replaced, but when they are, it will be well worth it! If you have a daughter (or son) interested in fashion, this is a very nice tool that promotes creativity. 』
(Fun for my daughter and for me.) 『I bought this fashion studio for my six year old daughter for xmas, and it is by far her favorite gift. She had to have it open immediately and, as soon as I found some batteries, she was creating outfits. A bonus, I think it would be fun to create my own outfits, if she'll ever give me a turn. My only con to the set is that the pieces don't really come with a container or case. They don't fit it the plastic shelf that holds the light box and the pencils, so if we're not careful, I'm afraid pieces will get lost. Luckily, they all fit nicely in a sandwich size, ziploc bag, and after explaining to my daughter that if she lost the pieces it wouldn't be fun anymore, I'm confident we can keep it all together. Plus, you don't have to demolish the box to get everything out so hopefully it will hold up for a while to hold everything neatly.』 『Including a unique light table that illuminates every outfit, this kit helps kids create a full fashion line using acetate wardrobe pieces. Add color, patterns, and texture voila! Is it ready-to-wear or couture? Casual or red-carpet? It's the designer's choice! Comes complete with the fashion-forward light table, more than 30 acetate wardrobe pieces, ten artist grade color pencils, and ten sheets of drawing paper.』
