IPhone 3G used's review (Fun to Read And Educational Too) 『There aren't many books that tell a good story and can teach science at the same time. This book has managed to do both. This is a story about a girl and her brother who move to an old farmhouse that have bats living in the attic. The parents teach them all about bats during this story but it doesn't come off like a science book. This would be an excellent book for children in 3rd grade. I'd even pick it for my daughter who doesn't like science.』 『A girl describes how she spent a summer observing the bats around and inside her house and what she discovered about their characteristics and behavior.』

(Mostly good stories, a few meh.) 『I liked the first half alot. A few small stories and a three part arc that was nicely done. The latter half, while not as bad as people say i found weak. Like was done just to get some more attention.』
(Holy&%$# what a great Spidey book!!!) 『First of all for the price I paid, it might as well have been stolen. The artwork is outstanding and only pales to the actual stories being told. The book is huge. I don't know how many pages but once again the book is a great value. Full color, glossy pages at every turn. I love Spider-man and comics in general. I can say this though without any reservation. If you are not a big fan of comics you will be after reading this. Cover to cover, the best. I will be buying the other volumes.』 『Collecting Amazing Spider-Man #501-514.』

Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (Prototypical of Ultimate FF) 『One of the main selling points for the Ultimate Marvel universe is that they can do almost anything they want with what are, at the core, the established characters we recognize. The major heroes such as Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four and the X-Men all have the same identities and powers as their 616 counter-parts, but other details can be added, updated, etc.
The Ultimate FF getting their powers from a trans-dimensional teleporter rather than cosmic radiation is a prime example, and this is one thing I like about the Ultimate line. It's familiar in many ways, but it's more modern, updated to today's world, and the Ultimate universe doesn't have to follow the same continuity as the 616. Characters don't have to behave like they do in Amazing Spider-Man or Uncanny X-Men.
Yet one thing that concerns me with a lot of the Ultimate line is that the writers are seemingly running through the heroes, villains and major storylines of the 616 universe like a checklist. Gwen Stacey dying, Captain America being found in ice, Hank Pym assaulting Janet. It's all happened in both the 616 universe and then redone in the Ultimate, with varying degrees of success.
And sometimes, these events happen so quickly or so soon (within the run of the series) that they don't carry anywhere near the same impact as the original. This is a particular drawback, in my opinion, to Ultimate Spider-Man and X-Men. Ultimate Sandman was introduced right at the start of the Ultimate Six storyline simply because Bendis needed a sixth man. He has no backstory, no beef with Spider-Man, nothing to even indicate why he's a villain. It's just that he's the Sandman of that universe, so he has to be a villain. He's hardly an actual character, no personality or desire.
Too often the Ultimate line is trying to mirror the 616 universe rather than establishing itself as different. These characters are heroes, these characters are villains and these events happen all because that's what happened in 616.
But Ultimate Fantastic Four seems to carry the weight differently. Yes, villains such as Thanos, Dr. Doom and vol. 8's main villain Diablo are introduced and don't have many differences from their initial version. But I don't fault Ultiamte FF for the check-list problem as I do USM or UXM.
I think the main reason is that UFF goes to greater lengths to make the familiar characters unique to the universe. Diablo as an alchemist in the Rennaissance is a better idea for a character than his 616 predecessor, truth be told. I'm not a big fan of completely deconstructing the superhero genre (as Bendis seems to be doing with USM) with taking away costumes and secret identities and true criminal super-villains, but I like attempts to make the heroes and villains more realistic, more like what a real human in their position would do. 616 Diablo was locked up for hundreds of years and lived off his magic potions. Ultimate Diablo simply reached across time and space to find the people that could set him free in his time. It's an effective change, and it's what I like about Ultimate FF.
Check out the stories with Thanos and Silver Surfer (Silver Searcher) for other examples. It's the same core parts (the major galactic figure, the outcast wanderer), but they're done more realistically than the traditional super-hero stories.
It may be that I appreciate Ultimate FF because it tries to go so far in changing the familiar. But I still have problems with how often characters are introduced and then "disposed" of so quickly. I wouldn't mind more villains being recurring.』 『The FF are pulled into a madman's scheme when those closest to them are drawn back through time as a lure to get the foursome to follow. And what awaits them in the year 1483 is a man with a quest to transform the world - literally. Meet the alchemist supreme: Ultimate Diablo! And his plans for the Fantastic Four aren't pretty. Plus: Something strange has happened at Nursery Two, the Baxter Building's Think Tank counterpart in Oregon. It's disappeared, seemingly swallowed up by the earth itself! And if you think that heralds the return of the macabre Mole Man, go to the head of the class! Collects Ultimate Fantastic Four #39-41 and Annual #2.』

Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (Events come to a head in the Underdark...) 『 This is the fourth book in the Underland Chronicles. It was a great book as things really start to heat up in the Underland.
When one of the bats returns the crown that Luxa left with the Nibblers; Luxa knows the Nibblers must be in big trouble. Gregor is also making regular visits to the Underland to visit his ailing mother; during these visits Gregor trains with Ripred to improve his echolocation and in one visit meets the Bane. The Bane has grown substantially since Gregor saved him and is becoming a creature to match his name. Frustrated with the slowness of the council Luxa convinces Gregor and crew to meet with the Nibblers, but the Nibblers have disappeared and Gregor and Luxa (accompanied by Howard and Boots) are in for another another adventure that leads to a climax in the Underdark that has so long been inevitable.
This was a great book. It ripped along at a very fast pace, was very entertaining, and hard to put down. I just flew through this book. This book is different from the previous books in that the book is not a contained adventure; this book ends in the middle of the action and leads right into book 5. So, I would definitely get book 5 ahead of time to avoid frustration of being stranded in the middle of the story at the end of this book. It is also different from the other books in that there is not a prophecy forcing the story forward.
There is more blood and violence in this book than the other books. As the characters mature, so do the things they are forced to deal with. Luxa and Gregor both grow a lot as characters and begin to accept their responsibilities. You get to see a lot more of Gregor's rager abilities and a lot more of Luxa making the decisions a Queen must make. Ripred and Boots are deeply involved in the story too; these are probably my two favorite characters in this series.
A great addition to the series. Leads you to the climax of these books; very engrossing and fast-paced read. I wasn't thrilled with this series after the first couple books; but the last two books have made reading the series all worth while!』
(Not as great.) 『I have read all of the books in the series. This is sort of like an in-between book, a filler. It has no prophecey, and they're isn't too much action compared to the other books. I liked all of the other books, especially the Code of Claw, but this was by FAR the worst of them.』
(Great book...but more horrifying than it appears) 『I am a K-5 school librarian and I highly recommend the first 3 books in this series for 4th and 5th graders and up. However, the 4th and 5th books in this series are much more detailed in their description of battle and genocide; children under the age of 12 may need some guidance when reading these sections. However, it truly is a wonderful and insightful book.』
(susan howard's students) 『This book talks about Gregor going into the Underland practically everyday. When he goes to Gregor's friend's birthday Hazard,he falls into this mission with Luxa to save the nibblers(mice)from the danger that they're in,the only problem is that they don't know what's wrong. The whole hunt to help the mice turn into a picnic with little kids and everything. While they go on this "picnic" as they called it turned into just trying to survive an earthquake that gives them no choice but go to the Firelands where they have to go up against rats, scorpions, volcanoes, and poisinous gases. When they finally get out of there they decide that Luxa and a few others should go finds the mice while Gregor takes the kids back to Regalia. While he is there he decides to read the prophecy that everybody wants him to avoid "The Prophecy of Time".
This story is pretty cool because it has like a problem in every other paragraph and has a very suspenseful ending. Gregor is starting to realize that he has feelings for Luxa, but doesn't know how to say it. This story is cool and I'm glad I started reading this book.4』
(Jonatan Salinas-5th grade) 『I like the book because it's interesting and each chapter has a problem. If Boots didn't come with Gregor it would be easier. When she fell in the water I felt so scared that he will never see her again, but after he finishes one more prophecy his family will have to move and never see his friends in the underland never again-that is my prediction.』 『
It's only a few months since Gregor and Boots returned from the Underland, leaving their mother behind to heal from the plague. Though Gregor's family receives frequent updates on her condition, they all know Gregor must return to fulfill his role as the warrior who is key to the Underlanders' survival. Accompanied by his now-talkative, potty-trained little sister Boots, still considered the honorary "princess," Gregor joins forces with another princess -- 12-year-old Luxa -- and Ripred the rat to defend the Underlanders and the vulnerable "Nibblers" or mice, from the rat army led by (cont'd)
