We see their feelings deepen and we meet the Dragon God for the first time. Then we get two short stories also set in this same universe with our same characters -- Megumi&Suzuka and Megumi's parents -- and another story about the original people who were cursed to begin with. All in all I really liked it. Its nice to see how things happen in these two cursed families. Though I could do with less angst and more action or slavery myself.』 『R to L (Japanese Style)
Carefree Megumi Kuroishi was living a life of luxury until the day a girl named Suzuka Kogami walked into his life. All of a sudden, Megumi finds himself kneeling at Suzuka's feet and prostrating himself like a servant! What Megumi doesn't know (until that very moment anyway) is that his family is cursed to follow the orders of the Kogami family.
Suzuka becomes steeped in jealousy when she observes Megumi's interactions with Rui, the maid. But with the curse in the way, can Suzuka ever hope to have a normal relationship with Megumi?』
IPhone 3G used's review (An end (and a beginning) to a classic tale) 『Saturated in myth, "ElfQuest" is a classic tale, classically told. This long out-of-print Starblaze volume compiles the final WaRP Graphics comics of the original quest detailing the adventures of Cutter and his elf tribe regaining the mythical home of their star faring ancestors: the High Ones. Along the way, issues of intolerance and bigotry are dealt with, while the importance of love and fellowship triumphs over all odds with the help of some of the most beautiful artwork and tightest writing the comics medium has ever seen. My sister gave me the first three volumes in this series when I was a kid, and while "ElfQuest" has been released in many editions since then ([...]), it's nice to finally own the conclusion to the inaugural saga that flavoured my youth and has given me so much joy over the years. Happily, the quest would not end here as the first (of many) follow-up series, "Siege At Blue Mountain," was lurking just around the corner.』
(Elfquest book 4) 『This graphic novel concludes the original quest, begun in Book 2. Once again, Wendy Pini's art pulls you in to the story. Richard and Wendy have a way of bringing art and words together to make the story an unforgettable one. I grew up with the Quest, and so it's quite dear to me. The Quest holds its own, though, against other fantasy works. Well worth the read.』
(A great series and the 1984 edition has the best coloring) 『This edition, as with first 4 Elfquest books in the 1984 editions, are fabulous reads and with a little creative editing on the part of parents, great stuff for kids. These editions are in my opinion the best colored. The later edtions used some sort of funky computer coloring that really flattened much of the work and had real yellow tone. If you can find them get the orginal graphic novels in all of their beautifully colored original glory. I have loved them since I was a kid and my kids love them as well.』
(Interesting but not really for young kids) 『As a fantasy-lover, I'd say the story and graphics make the series unique and interesting but this book in particular (book 4), has scenes that can only be appropriate for adults (e.g., an elf orgy). I'd recommend to parents, teachers or librarians to scan the books first before giving it to young kids.』

Not yet published IPhone 3G used's review (Keep a tissue nearby) 『I thought the whole series was amazing the cliff hanger in shadow kiss made me want to keep reading. In Blood promise rose goes off to do what she promised Dimtri the love of her life. You can feel how much she's hurting through out the story, she changes throughout the first book. When she meets his parents thats when I really think you can feel how much she's hurting and then she can't stop thinking about Lissa. Lissa seems to think that Rose choose Dimtri over her with is not exactly the truth I just dont think she understands how much Rose is hurting.Throughout the book we meet lots of new charcters while Rose is away from the academy I wont spoil it for you but I think in the sixth the book she will have a happy ending be it with Dimtri or Adrian hopefully Dimtri』
(Can't wait for the next one.) 『I've read all of Mead's books - each has such a unique take on life and such strong charaters that they are hard to put down. I'm always grumpy in the days after finishing one of her books, because few other books pull me in as hers do.
I read Blood Promise over about a week, which is rare as usually I devour her books. But something in this one moved a bit slower and more methodically than in her others - probably because she portrayed Rose's grief and mixed emotions so well that unfortunately, I felt the fog and sadness she felt. The book moved slower than her others, but it was every bit as good.
Rose went to find Dimitri, to kill his Strigoi incarnation as she knew he would have wanted. On her way, she ended up staying with Dimitri's family, and was accepted into their lives as his widow. After realizing that however welcoming his family has been, she needs to find Dimitri himself, she takes her courage in her hands and goes off to find him.
When she succeeds, nothing is as she expected, and Rose finds out some new things about Strigoi which lead us nicely into the next book's plot.
If you've read the others, then you don't need me to tell you to pick this one up - it's as good as the others, even if the pacing is a bit different. I can't wait for the next one.』
(A great VA novel!) 『Blood Promise left me wanting, needing, more! Some people are over vampires, but I still absolutely love Richelle Mead's books! Blood Promise was an amazing continuation of the Vampire Academy books!
I always find it difficult to write reviews for books that are part of a series because I have a hard time writing around spoilers. That said, you can't fully appreciate Blood Promise unless you've read the first three Vampire Academy books. For that reason, this won't really be a review, but more of a recommendation to read the VA books!
I read the Vampire Academy last year shortly before the third book was released. I absolutely devoured it and rushed out to immediately buy the next two books (thankfully the third one was out at that point). I really hadn't expected to love these books as much as I do, but Richelle Mead's take on vampires is so refreshing and wonderfully imagined. The most notable aspect of these novels is that the main character isn't a vampire, she is dhampir, or a vampire guardian. I liked all the history that is involved in VA and how all the different characters and pieces of the story fit together.
My favorite part of the novels is the romance. I am a romance junkie and Vampire Academy is jam packed with sexual tension and tender moments. In many ways, I'd say that the VA books are more romance novels than vampire novels.
I love those strong male leads and bad boys, but Rose, even though she falls head-over-feet, still holds her own: she doesn't need a guy to define her!
The Vampire Academy novels are not to be missed! If you've read the first three novels and haven't gotten to Blood Promise yet, move it up on your to-be-read pile! I can't wait for the next novel, Spirit Bound, which will be out next year!

(This Series Gets Better and Better!) 『When we left Rose in Shadow Kiss her world had been turned upside down. The love of her life had become the definition of evil. Now Rose is in Russia hunting Dimitri down to kill him or to join him? What will see find in Russia? New friends, a new family, home, or death?
This is one of the few young adult vampire series that stands out from the hundreds. The fourth installment Blood Promise is no exception. Richelle Mead has already taken us on a wild ride with Rose in the past four books, it's about to get even wilder.
I was shocked, shocked! At the direction this book took. Not that it was bad, I loved it but this is definitely not a fluffy YA. Rose goes through some very difficult things and makes some very difficult choices.
I was happy that we still got to see a decent amount of life at the Academy with Lissa and Adrian through the bond. I was a little tiny bit disappointed with the lack of Christian, seeing as he is my favorite guy in the series but hopefully Mead will make up for that in Spirit Bound.
I really do love this series and if you haven't started it yet, what are you waiting for?! For anyone that is wondering if there is a cliffhanger, it leaves you hanging but nothing like Shadow Kiss did!』
(Another fantastic book in the Vampire Academy Series.) 『Seriously, my first words upon finishing Blood Promise were O.M.G. Richelle Mead doesn't let readers down with this next installment of the series! She hooks you in, and doesn't let you eat, sleep, whatever until the book is done - it's that addicting!
Once you got into it, there was no putting it down. The suspense, the story, and action just kept you reading. The need to know what's happening to Dimitri, will Rose carry out her plans is so overwhelming. Blood Promise definately plays with your emotions throughout the entire book.
In Blood Promise you see everyone favorite characters continue to grow as the series progresses. I was happy Richelle Mead found a way to include all the characters, even while Rose is off in Russia. The new characters you meet, like Abe and Sydney, are characters I hope to see in future books!
I now need Spirit Bound NOW! The wait until May is going to be agonizingly long!』 『How far will Rose go to keep her promise?
The recent Strigoi attack at St. Vladimir’s Academy was the deadliest ever in the school’s history, claiming the lives of Moroi students, teachers, and guardians alike. Even worse, the Strigoi took some of their victims with them. . . including Dimitri.
He’d rather die than be one of them, and now Rose must abandon her best friend, Lissa—the one she has sworn to protect no matter what—and keep the promise Dimitri begged her to make long ago. But with everything at stake, how can she possibly destroy the person she loves most?』
IPhone 3G used's review (Crimebusters #4) 『This is my favorite of Three Investigators Crimebusters series. Jupe finally gets a girlfriend in the end... Stellara Stargirl... Woohoo!!! =)』
(If I could give it 6 stars, I would...) 『Funny Business is the best of the Crimebusters Series, one of the best Three Investigators Books, and is one of my favorite books of all time. In this, the 8th (I think) book in the "Grown Up" Three Investigators, the detectives try to have a normal summer vacationand make money by selling on some comics they buy. When they are at the comics convention however, their plan is foiled when the comics are stolen. The book blends in well written human interest, Jupiter's continuing love troubles, with action, a well written plot, and a quite astoundingly accurate perspective of the comic book world. As a fan, I am used to the misrepresentation and incorrect views of most writers on the strange and covert of comic book fans, but the writer's picture of it is perfect, down to realistically crafted superheroes and the shady purloining of artists work by editors.』 『The Three Investigators track a costumed thief at a comic book convention.』
IPhone 3G used's review (A Bit Disappointed) 『I was a bit disappointed with this book. I was not expecting to have a little excerpt of a story and a worksheet to fill in. I wanted more substance. I will use the book but I have to do a LOT of work to make it worth our while. I also think the that the author could have used more interesting selections. I don't mean to sound harsh but the other reviews were what sold me and I don't think the book is quite as good as they seem to. However, it's not a terrible book and it gives me a jumping off point to build from. Hope this helps.』
(Already have used this book in my class) 『This was a great transaction! This book was exactly what I was needing. Thanks』
(What a find!) 『I'm doing my student teaching in a master's program in Oregon. I'm in a school district that doesn't have set 'guidelines' for what you teach and when you teach it so when my supervisor said I was going to teach 'literary genre', I was lost. I researched the topic and quickly realized that it was a dry and boring topic that would need a lot of help. I found this book online and thought it could work (even though it's geared toward 4-8 grade students, my 3rd and 4th graders did wonderfully). I was amazed at how much information was stuffed into that book and how many reproducible-quality worksheets were available. Nothing in the book was just 'so-so'- it was all fantastic and the kids LOVED the topic and the interesting and creative writing assignments. Boy, just when I was at my wits end creatively speaking, in stepped this book (by scholastic, OF COURSE) and saved me. Teachers and parents, this is a fabulous resource.』
(Teaching literature to children? or Children's Literature?) 『This is a great, inexpensive resource for teachers! It offers concrete examples of books representing the various genres, and exercises as well! This is a blessing for the teacher of Literature for Children courses!』 『Explore 9 Types of Literature to Develop Lifelong Readers and Writers This book will get kids excited about exploring 9 different genres: Realistic Fiction, Mystery, Folk Literature, Autobiography, Science Fiction/Fantasy, Informational Reports, Biography, Poetry, and Historical Fiction. Written in association with the National Literacy Trust, this book is one of a structured programme which children can work through from basic word repetition to real-life accounts of the San Francisco earthquake.
