Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (Good read) 『I enjoyed the entire "Twilight" series. While Meyers doesn't have the wrap-up skill of JK Rowlings (I figured out the ending of the 4th book after reading the third) the book was entertaining and managed to hold my attention completely. I've read each of them twice, due to my terrible habit of speed reading on a first go-through, and found them to be quite engaging. The characters are consistent: no out-of-character freakouts or personality change. I recommend the entire series to anyone who wants to escape from the mundane and let your imagination soar.』
(1 star even seems too generous.) 『I can not believe how bad this book is. The sex, the pregnancy, the imprinting and.....well, I do not know what else is in this book given it is so horrible that I could not finish it.
Ms. Meyer, I would give you credits for your creativity but I think you went too far this time.
For those who enjoy book 1-3, if you dont want to ruin your Twilight experience, stop at Eclipse, you are not missing out.』
(Great read...we need more in this series) 『I really enjoyed reading these four books and BD was a great end to a great set! I do think it leaves a lot of possibilities of more stories for all the characters that Meyers created with this series. I hope she does more....it truly is a different twist on an old subject that has been around for ages!!
』
(I already see moviegoers cringing) 『How on earth did Meyer conceive this finale for her saga? The story was so far fetched and removed from the rest of the series it felt like an entirely different book, or even like a bad fanfiction created by an avid fan while waiting for the last book to come out!
The plot also seemed crowded. By the end of the book I had to make a real effort to remember how it began (not to mention how the series began). Although it might have been that the book so painful to read, I found myself bored through most of it and just skimming through some parts.
Even the romance was lacking. Granted, I was always a Team Jacob fan, so all the Edward/Bella scenes did nothing for me. The twisted turn Jacob's character took was very disappointing. Towards the end I found his character became so flat I no longer cared for him.
And they plan to make this into a movie? I already see the critics ripping apart the story. Not to mention moviegoers thinking "what the heck?"
You really have to be a loyal fan to stick by this book. It's so disappointing that I can no longer count this saga among my favorites. 』
(LOVE IT!) 『If u have read "Twulight", "New Moon" and "Eclipse"...YOU MUST READ "BREAKING DAWN"...is so exciting u can't get ur eyes out of it....totally recommended!』 『When you loved the one who was killing you, it left you no options. How could you run, how could you fight, when doing so would hurt that beloved one? If your life was all you had to give, how could you not give it? If it was someone you truly loved?
To be irrevocably in love with a vampire is both fantasy and nightmare woven into a dangerously heightened reality for Bella Swan. Pulled in one direction by her intense passion for Edward Cullen, and in another by her profound connection to werewolf Jacob Black, a tumultuous year of temptation, loss, and strife have led her to the ultimate turning point. Her imminent choice to either join the dark but seductive world of immortals or to pursue a fully human life has become the thread from which the fates of two tribes hangs.
Now that Bella has made her decision, a startling chain of unprecedented events is about to unfold with potentially devastating, and unfathomable, consequences. Just when the frayed strands of Bella's life--first discovered inTwilight, then scattered and torn inNew MoonandEclipse--seem ready to heal and knit together, could they be destroyed... forever?
The astonishing, breathlessly anticipated conclusion to the Twilight Saga,Breaking Dawnilluminates the secrets and mysteries of this spellbinding romantic epic that has entranced millions.』
『Great love stories thrive on sacrifice. Throughout The Twilight Saga (Twilight,New Moon, andEclipse), Stephenie Meyer has emulated great love stories--Romeo and Juliet,Wuthering Heights--with the fated, yet perpetually doomed love of Bella (the human girl) and Edward (the vampire who feeds on animals instead of humans). InBreaking Dawn, the fourth and final installment in the series, Bella’s story plays out in some unexpected ways. The ongoing conflicts that made this series so compelling--a human girl in love with a vampire, a werewolf in love with a human girl, the generations-long feud between werewolves and vampires--resolve pretty quickly, apparently so that Meyer could focuson Bella’s latest opportunity for self-sacrifice: giving her life for someone she loves even more than Edward. How close she comes to actually making that sacrifice is questionable, which is a big shift from the earlier books. Even though you knew Bella would make it through somehow, the threatsto her life, and to her relationship with Edward, had previously always felt real. It’s as if Meyer was afraid of hurting her characters too much, which is unfortunate, because the pain Bella suffered at losing Edward inNew Moon, and the pain Jacob suffered at losing Bella again and again, are the fire and the heart that drive the whole series. Diehard fans will stick with Bella, Edward, and Jacob for as many twists and turns as possible, but after most of the characters get what they want with little sacrifice, some readers may have a harder time caring what happens next. Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (Back on Track) 『If Book 3, The Sword Thief was a little disappointing, book 4, Beyond the Grave more than made up for it. This story takes place in Egypt, in and around various cities and especially some of the tombs and temples of ancient Egyptians. In this book Dan and Amy find themselves at odds with each other. They also realize that they are becoming more and more like the other Cahills; they are lying, cheating, stealing and they also realize that they do not like it. They also encounter a friend of their late Grandmother, Hillary Vale and her grandson Theo. At first they seem like friends and eager to help the children, but looks can be deceiving, especially if the Cahills are around.
This book has a better pace than book 3; it is well-written and the characters seem more true to themselves. The story is starting to progress at a breakneck speed. Yet with 7 authors over 10 books it will be hard to predict where the series is going or how we will get there. Like earlier books, this one had a lot of historically accurate information, and gives a history lesson in a fun adventure book. The series is great for people of all ages. From young children having it read to them to retirees, it seems there is something in the 39 Clues for everyone.
Jude Watson did a good job of reining in the story; she also carried the characters forward in a well-developed manner. My biggest complaint about the series is that the books keep getting shorter. At this rate the last few will be novelettes not novels. My second complaint is that the final book is not due out until the fall of 2010. This seems like a terribly long time, but with 10 books in 3 years it is still a great feat. This book left the reader eagerly anticipating book 5 due out in August of this year - The Black Circle by Patrick Carman.
(First published in Imprint 2009-06-26.)』
(Best yet!) 『The Cahill siblings are at it again - this time in Egypt. Mysterious clues are hidden in some of the most famous tombs in all of history, but danger still abounds. This time around, though, Dan and Amy have some help from an old friend of Grace Cahill's - or do they?? This is the best book yet of the series.』 『
A Clue found in Book 3 sends Amy and Dan jetting off to find out just what's behind the fierce rivalry between the Tomas and Ekaterina branches of the Cahill family. Was a Clue stolen from the Tomas branch? Where is it now? And most important, can Amy and Dan get their hands on it before their rivals do?
It's a wild race that will take Amy and Dan deep into the bowels of the earth . . . and right into the hands of the enemy.

Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (The Great Myth) 『I loved this book alot. It's about Percy Jackson a demigod the son of one of the three most powerful Greek God, Poisoden (I don't think I spelled it right.) This time Percy and Annebeth another demigod, Grover a satyr, and Tyson a cyclops must venture into the labyrinth created by the amazing inventor Dadaleus (I don't think i spelled this one right too.) Will they survive in this mind twisting maze read the book to find out.』
(Excellent) 『The war between the Olympians and the evil Titan Lord Kronos is drawing near and even Camp Half-Blood isn't safe as the enemy has found a way into camp through The Labyrinth. Now Percy and his friends have to navigate the Labyrinth to get to Daedalus's workshop before their arch enemy Luke does and convince Daedalus to help them and not Luke. Grover comes along on the journey to help but he has another goal as well - this is his last chance to find Pan. The journey through the Labyrinth is a hazardous one, taking them into unexpected places and filled with more than one surprise.
"The Battle of the Labyrinth" is the fourth (and one of the best) books in Rick Riordan's wonderfully inventive Percy Jackson and the Olympians children's fantasy series. Riordan has great fun with the Labyrinth - a scary place that takes the children to historical places with the typical Riordan twist. Riordan also has fun expanding on the Daedalus myth and adds some surprises to that plot line that readers won't see coming. There is a wonderful sense of humor throughout the book that makes it fun to read (a perfect example is what Nico does to raise the dead). Riordan continues to tweak mythology (an encounter with the Sphinx is hilarious) and make it his own. Riordan also does a good job of mixing humor with scary and sometimes sad moments. The books in the series get darker as the series moves along and this book is a reminder that in any war, even one involving mythological characters, there will be casualties.
"The Battle of the Labyrinth" is the great fourth book in a wonderful fantasy series aimed at children but enjoyable for readers of all ages.
The first three books in the series are:
The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Book 1) The Sea of Monsters (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Book 2) The Titan's Curse (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Book 3)
Enjoy! 』
(Super youth fantasy literature) 『Loved the entire series and have now read it more than once. It made me want to learn more about Greek mythology.』
(Ghosts, evil monsters, heroes: What more could you want?) 『Riordan's fourth book in the series is amazing. It is as fresh and exciting as the first book. Percy, Annabeth, Tyson, and Grover begin another quest. This one takes them into the underground - through Daedalus' labyrinth: an ever-changing, magical place with new monsters and terrors galore. What's happening to Luke will amaze you. I had more questions than ever when I finished the book, and I'm going to order The Last Olympian NOW!!! Be sure to read this one - it's one of the best!』
(Percy Jackson Series) 『I'm on my last of the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan. He writes a killer series. These books are definately worth your leasure hours.』 『Percy Jackson isn't expecting freshman orientation to be any fun. But when a mysterious mortal acquaintance appears on campus, followed by demon cheerleaders, things quickly move from bad to diabolical.
In this latest installment of the blockbuster series, time is running out as war between the Olympians and the evil Titan lord Kronos draws near. Even the safe haven of Camp Half-Blood grows more vulnerable by the minute as Kronos's army prepares to invade its once impenetrable borders. To stop them, Percy and his demigod friends must set out on a quest through the Labyrinth-a sprawling underground world with stunning surprises at every turn. Full of humor and heart-pounding action, this fourth book promises to be their most thrilling adventure yet.』

It takes my own children about 15 minutes to do their pages each day, while providing critical review in reading, grammar, and math. I will recommend this book to all of my students' parents next year. Even the highest students can benefit from a short review during the summer.』
(perfect for the summer) 『I have been a primary school teacher for 15 years and always recommend the Summer Bridge books to the parents.』

(Nice summer tool for review.) 『I have used the Summer Bridges workbooks with my children for several years. The review is very nice for them, and working with them helps me to know where they need extra help.
I ask them to do one page of "morning work" from the book each day. They have ADD, so some days it takes all morning to get it done.
Unfortunately, my children hate doing the work. It is difficult to convince them that it is worth their trouble.
I'd love to hear ideas for making it a little more fun.』 『NEW and Improved Summer Bridge Activities for 2006!

Usually ships in 24 hours IPhone 3G used's review (why it is so good?) 『I think that this book is one of the best books in the whole series. If you like adventure and action you will love this book. This book is jam packed with heros and bad guys. If you had read the other books in the series and are considering if you should continue to this book you defiantly should. There is brave and amazing stunts in this book, such as the shots that the young kid makes with his bow and arrow. In this book enemies become allies to defeat a common enemy and drive them back to where they came from. This book is all about strategy and war and alliances. So in conclusions i think that this could be one of the best books out there and if you like this series then you should defiantly read this book.』
(Ranger's Apprentice: The Battle For Skandia) 『I would recommend the book Ranger's Apprentice: The Battle For Skandia. It is the fourth book of the series Ranger's Apprentice. It is full of action and situations where Will, the main character, has to use both his strength and his mind. This book started where the third book of the series left off where Will, a young man that is being trained to be a Ranger, is planning a way to get back to Araluen with the Princess Cassandra disguised as a commoner. These plans were soon put aside when Cassandra went into the woods to check the trap that they had set and never returned. Will left to find out what happened to her and discovered looking at the tracks in the snow that someone had captured her. As tired as he was, he ran, heart pounding, following the new tracks left in the snow. Later, they were back together again along with Will's teacher and his best friend. Together they all set out to discover what was about to happen in Skandia. This book is great because it is full of description to the point where I can see exactly what was happening. There is non-stop action throughout the entire book. The only problem is you'll have to read the other three books for you not to be lost when reading the fourth book. Don't look as it as a bad thing though because the other three are great books also. 』
(Good read) 『Once again- the book is over too fast- and now I have to wait for the release of Book 5 . . . June 25th. Oh well, at least it is only a month away now.』
(From Jimmy at J. Kaye's Book Blog) 『Will and Evanlyn have escaped the Skandians, and are passing their time in a cottage until the thaw comes. But one day while out checking the snares, Evanlyn is kidnapped. It is up to Will to save her, but because he was under the effects of warmweed, his skills are rusty. He soon finds out that it's the Temujai who have kidnapped Evanlyn.
Halt and Horace also find the same Temujai. They also find Will and the three of them rescue Evanlyn. But there is a bigger problem now. The Temujai are one of the most powerful armies in the world. At one time they almost conquered Skandia, but because their leader died, they had to retreat. This time though, there is nothing stopping them from conquering Skandia, except two rangers.
THE BATTLE FOR SKANDIA is the fourth book in the Ranger's Apprentice series. This is, in my opinion, the best out of the Ranger's Apprentice series. My eyes were glued to the book the whole way through. 』
(Great addition to the series) 『oh so good! I love this series and wish they would just release all the books from the UK to US NOW!』 『Still far from their homeland after escaping slavery in the icebound land of Skandia, Will and Evanlyn's plans to return to Araluen are spoiled when Evanlyn is taken captive by a Temujai warrior. Though still weakened by the warmweed's toxic effects, Will employs his Ranger training to locate his friend, but an enemy scouting party has him fatally outnumbered. Will is certain death is close at hand, until Halt and Horace make a daring, last-minute rescue. The reunion is cut short, however, when Halt makes a horrifying discovery: Skandia's borders have been breached by the entire Temujai army. And Araluen is next in their sights. If two kingdoms are to be saved, an unlikely union must be made. Will it hold long enough to vanquish a ruthless new enemy? Or will past tensions spell doom for all?
The battles and drama are nonstop in Book Four of this hugely popular epic.』
IPhone 3G used's review (Lots of information...) 『I just finished reading the book today in preparation for teaching my DD9. I learned so much about the different countries of the world and why they are&how they came to be. (Story of the World Vol. 4) 『This book is so engaging my 6 yr old has almost completed it independently. Written in a very storylike style.』
(An Excellent World History Primer) 『There is no doubt that this series is well written. My son read each of the four books in the span of less than a week. They really piqued his interest. These books will let you know what really turns on your child, but you'll need to go on for further, more in-depth review.
Can't recommend this series enough for the pre-teen set!』
(History for children) 『This was a good review for elementary children. It is not an in-depth study of any point in particular but it is an excellent overview of historical events. It is easy reading and gives information that makes history come alive. However, it is not a history book, which is why it is such good reading and a wonderful overview. If you want a lot of information about a particular event or time, then you need an additional text.』

Not only does she love this colorful book, but is awarded stickers for completing chapters. When all the chapters are done, she receives her braniac award. This book is full of confidence building strategies, in addition to easy learning. The brain boxes on each page explains to you in detail how to teach the lesson, if the child can follow directions they will be able to self-teach. Good book for a good price.』
(Creating a solid foundation for new learning opportunities) 『 This is one in a series of workbooks, each of which offers an abundance of learning activities, exercises, and games that are presented with superb production values. Appropriate to the given age level, much of the material focuses on basic subjects such natural science, mathematics, history, and social studies while enabling children to strengthen their reading, reasoning, and writing skills. The editors of Brain Quest believe that:
"All kids are smart - though they learn at their own speed
All kids learn best when they're having fun
All kids deserve the chance to reach their potential - given the tools they need, there's no limit how far they can go!"
I agree, while presuming to add that children will learn more and have more fun meanwhile if, when completing various exercises, adults are involved. As a parent of four and a grandparent of ten, I can personally attest to the pleasure an adult will also have. Each volume in the series is a WORK book. Exercises are completed with crayolas or pencils on the page on which it appears. Correct answers are provided. One caveat: Resist the temptation to control the learning process as a child completes an exercise.
This volume, Grade 4 (ages 9-10), was written by Barbara Gregorich, with Patty McGee serving as consulting editor. It is worth noting that McGee is a past winner of the Milken Foundation National Educator Award. The material consists of organized curriculum-based exercises that help children strengthen their skills in spelling and vocabulary, language arts, reading, writing, math skills, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, fractions and decimals, geometry and measurement, probability and data, solving word problems, social studies, science...and following directions. Also included are more than 150 stickers, an all-new Brain Quest Mini-Card Deck, and a fold-out "Seven Continents, One World" poster.
All exercises are cleverly designed, with specific directions that are easy to understand, visually appealing. Gregorich and McGee include with most of the exercises a "Brain Box" in which a key term is defined. Here is a representative selection:
"Letter to a Friend" Read the following letter. If a word needs an apostrophe, write it in. If an apostrophe does not belong, cross it out. (Page 35)
"Drafting a Personal Essay" Using your map on page 111, write a three paragraph draft of your personal essay. Remember to: - Use the first person - Include a topic sentence in each paragraph. - Use descriptive language, vivid details, and dialogue wherever you can. - Have a strong conclusion or point that you want to get across. (112)
"Writing a Fairy Tale" Think of a good idea for a fairy tale. Plan when and where your story will take place by filling out the box below. Next, think about your main character and at least one other character. (113#)
"The Facts About Factors" Fill in the missing factors. Write all the possible factors for each number [that follows]. Finish [these] math sentences. (174)
"Puppies and Parakeets" Answer [each of the following] questions using a bar graph. (234)
"Inventions and Creations" The time line shows inventions between the years 1500 and 2000. Some of these have to do with the growing or storing of food. Some have to do with clothing, and some with communication. Write each invention of creation on the correct card including the year it was invented. (254)
"Go Online" Research your state in an atlas, an encyclopedia, or on the internet. Fill in as much information as you can on the lines below. (264) "The Earth" Read about our home planet [in the paragraph that follows]. Answer [these] questions. (276-277)
"Science Crossword" Read each clue below. Write the answer in the crossword puzzle. (294)
Each of the volumes in this series (pre-K through Grade 4) would be an excellent book for parents, grandparents, and others to purchase and then share with a child at an appropriate stage of her or his development. No doubt there are precocious children who will prefer more challenging material associated with later grades but I think it would be a mistake to rush the process. Worse yet, to indicate little interest in it.
Congratulations to the Workman Publishing Company and especially to the editors of Brain Quest. After twilight all vampire expecations are high but these books cant be compared to twilight as they are way more adult and more into the evil aspect of vampires as well as the vampires battle against evil. Zoey is happy to have her friend back even if shes in the form shes in when Neferet decides to come clean on her evilness. The end of this book comes at you FAST and introduces new concepts and new cherokee legends that are much too complex to follow. (#4 House of Night) 『After the first couple books I know the characters and the author having to explain everything again gets repetitive. Which happens in each book. But I still loved this and the rest of them. It is the vampire Harry Potter series.』 『
Life sucks when your friends are pissed at you. Just ask Zoey Redbird– she’s become an expert on suckiness. In one week she has gone from having three boyfriends to having none, and from having a close group of friends who trusted and supported her, to being an outcast. Speaking of friends, the only two Zoey has left are undead and unMarked. And Neferet has declared war on humans, which Zoey knows in her heart is wrong. But will anyone listen to her? Zoey's adventures at vampyre finishing school take a wild and dangerous turn as loyalties are tested, shocking true intentions come to light, and an ancient evil is awakened in PC and Kristin Cast's spellbinding fourth House of Night novel.
